Coming out of her shell!

Coby and Quinn...they are buddies now.
She's smiling!
The orphanage staff. (Johnny said she LOVES the stroller).
Not sure what she's got in her mouth, but she looks happy. There is that famous peace sign again.

The sunglasses were the biggest hit of the day.

Johnny had a great day with Miss Quinn. They went to the registration and notarization building and the adoption is official. We were somewhat nervous for Quinn to see the Ayi and Orphanage Director again. Apparently, she was not really affected much at all. Johnny spoke some to the Director and found out that Quinn's BFF's (one is Minqi, who we'd LOVE to find a family for and the other is a little girl) walked her out to the car when she left. They were asking her to please go and find them a Mama and a Baba. That just breaks our hearts!

There was not a whole lot of information offered by the orphanage staff. Johnny said it was actually pretty uneventful, but he was given the contact information and asked to please send updated pictures of Quinn. After that, Coby the guide, took them to lunch in the hotel. Quinn ate a lot of rice and noodles and by the time she got back to the room, she started throwing up again. We think this is from the car ride. She is not doing too well with motion. My friend, Nicole, just got back from China and had to get little belly button patches for her little girl. They are supposed to help with motion sickness. She forwarded me a picture so the guide can hunt them down. Hopefully, we can find some relief for poor Quinn.

For the rest of the day, Johnny said she played so great. Every once in a while, she would come over and give him a hug. She was very smily and seems to be coming out of her shell. When the kids got up for school, she repeated all of their names and gets really excited when she sees them.

Now, her scabies situation may need more addressing. It was tough to keep the Elimite on her hands because she's a thumb sucker. Today, I noticed in one of the pictures that her hand was pretty covered in bumps. Johnny had wiped most of that off because he didn't want the medicine in her mouth. I told him to keep all of her worn clothes in a plastic bag. We certainly don't want scabies as our souvenir from China! Looks like their luggage will need to go into quarantine when they get home. :)

We are excited to see the little layers of Quinn unfold!! We are all so in love!

  1. Progress! Wonderful! So good to see her smiling! My heart just breaks hearing about what her sweet friends said to her as she left. Totally makes me want to go back again. Just so hard to know that there are so many children like them. Oh Lord, protect these little ones and unite them with families!

  5. One of the families we met in Nanchang all ended up with scabies from their little girl. The whole room (furniture, bed, etc.) and clothes needed to be disinfected. They changed rooms, too.

I'm glad she's coming out of her shell and that the meeting with the orphanage staff went well.

Our little Leslie also says 'ay yee" all the time, calling for her Nanny, though our daughter is 15 months old, so I am not quite sure if she says this to all adults or not, or if it's more of a call for assistance.
